We have the simple mission to make WiFi safe. Myths impede safe WiFi everywhere. Let's expose those half-truths.
AeONsafe Progress Report
In 90 days, AeON has become the leading hotspot provider in the west valley area of San Jose.
- The San Jose Business Journal acknowledges the unsafe WiFi and AeON's unique solution. (Wi-fi security has a new champion in the valley)
- Every local weekly has cooperated to promote safe WiFi.
- Cooperating locations include super cafes, like Mission City and Orchard Valley. Chains like The Barefoot Coffee network, Hobees, It's a Grind, J&J Hawaiian, Quickly, Quiznos Subs, Taxi's Hamburgers, Tomatina, Verde Tea, Wahoo's, and many more support free, safe wireless access. Other chains are planning the logistics to convert.
- Our coverage exceeds the "not free, not safe" footprint of Starbucks and McDonalds.
- Over 20,000 users have discovered AeONsafe.
- Our new process makes it simple to "Request a key"
Our mission has just begun.
Exposing Myths
Myth 1: Unsecured means anyone can access the Internet free?
Unsecured does mean open access by anyone. It also means that IDs, passwords, and email content are shared with anyone on the same network. Users can easily lose passwords that allow hackers to gain control of user accounts everywhere. This is not safe.
Some users say they avoid checking email from free locations. "I didn't inhale" does not protect public WiFi users. You do inhale, eventually.
Remember to protect your cookies. Web cookies store private data and is passed with every web request.
Myth 2: Starbuck's is safe?
WiFi at Starbucks is "not free and not safe." (Public Wi-Fi may turn your life into an open notebook)T-mobile manages the WiFi for Starbucks. The required log-in does not encrypt user data. Users can lose IDs and passwords. This is not safe.
Most WiFi users at Starbucks don't use T-mobile. They borrow signals from neighboring venues. This is not safe.
Borrow signals from AeONsafe venues. This is safe. Reward AeONsafe venues with frequent in-store visits.
Myth 3: Only students use WiFi?
Most students have laptops and use hotspots frequently.
50% of professionals also have laptops. They use hotspots less often, but still depend on hotstpots on a weekly basis. All food venues should expand services for the working professionals. (ed: and stay-at-home spouses.)
Our goal remains the same. WiFi should be safe, free, and available everywhere. Help spread the word.
Sincerely yours,
Dash Chang, CEO
